Photos of Wicklow County
Wicklow County, also known as 'The Garden of Ireland', is situated on the coastline south of Dublin City and stretches inland across The Wicklow Mountains to the plains of Kildare.
Wicklow National Park is famed for its scenic mountains and glens, rivers and lakes and historic sites.
Its mountains are a favourite place for Dubliners to go hill walking or for a picnic, and its beaches and coastline is favoured by those wishing to fish, partake in marine activities or just to spend a day on a beautiful sandy beach.

Photos of Glendalough, Co. Wicklow
Glendalough's beautiful valley and ancient monastic city are a favourite place amongst visitors to Wicklow National Park.
Sculpted by glaciers during the last Ice Age the beautiful valley of Glendalough is one of the the most visited place in Ireland.
After the Ice Age debris at the sides of the valley collapsed and two lakes were formed behind the dams which were created by these landslides.
Situated in the centre of Wicklow National Park the Glendalough Valley, or ‘The Valley of the Two Lakes’, has a history dating back to the early Christian days of Ireland.
It is one of Ireland’s most important sites for monastic ruins.
Founded by Saint Kevin, this important Christian community developed from the 5th century to become one of Ireland’s great ecclesiastic locations and a place of study and learning for Europeans seeking sanctuary from the chaos of the Dark Ages after the collapse of the Roman Empire.

Photos of Luggala, Co. Wicklow
The area known as Luggala in Co. Wicklow is one of Ireland's most beautiful panoramas.
Scoured by glaciers during the last ice age the spectacular view across Lough Tay and the Clohogue River to Luggala make the 6,000 acre Luggala Estate in the Wicklow National Park a favourite with sightseers and walkers on The Wicklow Way.
Lough Tay is often called 'The Guinness Lake' because the owner of the estate is The Hon Garech Browne, a Guinness heir, and the water also carries a brownish colour from the surrounding peat bogs. The lush green verdant valley is populated with a large herd of deer.

Photos of Dublin City in Ireland.
Dublin was established by Vikings (Norsemen) around the 8th Century A.D..
Since then Dublin has grown and developed into a vibrant modern city with all the amenities one would expect in a European capital whilst maintaining the charm of bygone years.
Situated on the eastern coast of Ireland Dublin has a beautiful coastline with cliffs, harbours and and sandy beaches, and also has lovely hills and mountains situated on its southern side.

Photos of Wexford County
Situated on the South East corner or Ireland, Wexford County is known for its sunny climate, rolling hills and sandy beaches.
This lovely county in the Sunny South-East boasts some excellent historic sites along with all that the modern visitor may require.
When the Tall Ships Race visited Waterford in 2005 they sailed past Duncannon and Hook Head. I have photos of Russian ships "Mir' and "Kruzneshtern", German ship "Alexander von Humboldt" and British ship "Prince William".

Photos of the Dingle Peninsula
The Dingle Peninsula is a beautiful area of Co. Kerry with spectacular scenery.
Dingle Harbour is a natural shelter on the wild Atlantic coast of Ireland which offers shelter from the most violent of Atlantic Storms, and was described by National Geographic as ‘the most beautiful place on earth’.
The town Dingle/an Daingean itself grew and prospered because of this beautifully situated haven which, for centuries, offered sanctuary in bad weather and afforded traders sheltered moorings and a market where they could conduct business. Nowadays the harbour offers marina facilities for the sailing fraternity as well as to the local fishermen and boating community. It is used as a base by many who tour the Dingle Peninsula for its spectacular views and treasure trove of historic sites and natural features varying from awe inspiring cliffs, long sandy beaches, and picturesque villages. Warmed by the Gulf Stream the Dingle Peninsula is an all year favourite with visitors and film makers, and was used for the location for films such as Ryan’s Daughter and Far and Away.
Playing host to over one million visitors every year there is something for everyone in Co. Kerry.

The Ring of Kerry is renowned for its beauty. With spectacular mountain and coastal views this area is definitely worth visiting.
Situated on the south west of Ireland, 'The Kingdom of Kerry' is a county which is world famous for its mountains and lakes, beaches and cliffs, historic ruins and picturesque towns, quiet bays and bustling harbours.
Warmed by the Gulf Stream, Kerry is renowned for excellent seafood and water based activities, scenic walks and golden beaches.

Photos of The Cliffs of Moher in County Clare
Rising to 700 feet or over 200 Metres these majestic cliffs stretch over 5 miles or 8km along the Atlantic coastline of Co. Clare and are one of Ireland's most popular places for visitors.
Famed for The Cliffs of Moher and the Burren, County Clare has spectacular landscapes which always inspire.
It is a county which is also renowned for its musical traditions, friendly people and excellent hospitality.

Photos of County Mayo
Mayo's beautiful mountains and valleys, cliffs, seascapes and islands are a favourite place for visitors to this beautiful part of Western Ireland.
Scoured out by glaciers during the last Ice Age the beautiful valleys of Killary Harbour and Doo Lough Pass are definitely worth a visit.
Mayo also has areas such as the beautiful Clew Bay which boasts 365 islands, Achill Island, Coragh Patrick, The Partry, Nephin and Mweelrea Mountains and the Sheefrey Hills.
The lovely town of Westport is renowned for its hospitality and musical traditions, and was again a winner in the 2009 Tidy Towns Competition.

Galway is known for it spectacular areas of Connemara, The Twelve Bens, Kylemore Abbey, Lough Corrib, Galway Bay and The Aran Islands.

Photos of Clonmacnoise, Co. Offaly
Clonmacnoise is an Early Christian Monastic Site which was founded by St. Ciarán in the mid-6th century.
It is situated on the eastern bank of the River Shannon, Ireland's longest river.
The site includes the ruins of a cathedral and seven churches dating from the 10th-13th Centuries.
It also boasts two round towers, three ancient Celtic High Crosses and the largest collection of Early Christian graveslabs in Western Europe.
The round towers were used as both bell towers and for safety during Viking (Norsemen) raids.
Numerous other Celtic crosses are also to be found in this historic location.
The visitor centre has original high crosses and a selection of graveslabs are on display.
